Who croaked? Find out with the beautifully useful "Frog Log": your guide to the frogs of Tasmania (Australia).

Hear the frog calls; view the high quality scalable images; read information on the frogs habitat, distribution and breeding. You can even use the app to help us by logging occurrences of frogs in the wild. The app’s sightings function allows GPS-enabled devices to send in the coordinates of frog sightings. This will help scientists build a record of the distribution of frogs in Tasmania, an important task as the number of frogs is declining.

This ultimate hand–held frog guide follows Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service’s popular guide to Tasmanian birds, "A Bird in the Hand". The App, produced in cooperation with Geometry Pty Ltd, features magnificent photos from Alex Dudley and sound recordings by Ron Nagorcka.

So check out this app, and feel free to offer suggestions for improvements or for future Apps (to [email protected]).

The island of Tasmania is Australia’s smallest and most southern State. It is one of the world’s special places, with over 40% of the island reserved for conservation (over 440 reserves) and more than 20% of the State listed as World Heritage. It is home to a unique, largely intact and often ancient fauna and flora, which we hope to highlight further in future Apps! For more info on Tasmania’s reserves and wildlife, see the Parks and Wildlife website: www.parks.tas.gov.au.
